a) YAY!

b) As someone who relies a lot on WordPress to e-mail me comments, I was confused when over the last 24 hours there were no e-mails from WP. Guess why. Yay WordPress stopped e-mailing me comments even though it still says it will! And no, the comments aren’t in my spam folder. Argh. WordPress, why disappoint me so.

Anyway, yes Marie, the package was sent last Wednesday and is FINALLY here today. Now I’m going to be spending a few hours knitting. (Please don’t mention homework to me… please…)

Also, here is the one surprise in the package (my mom always manages to add a surprise that makes me full of glee):

I love books and have been wondering if I brought enough. Plus I can’t believe I haven’t read any knitting-inspired books yet! So yay!

Also, do you think this Koigu would make a good cowl? I’m not entirely sure if I’m into it for socks, and I really am itching to try to get into the Cowl Craze, much as I dislike jumping bandwagons! But my neck is cold, so it might be a good bandwagon to jump.

Hurray for having my camera cord back! Now, off to kniiiiitting! Whoo hooooo!

When I grow up and live all by myself (with my cats, of course) in a house with a yard for a garden, the first thing I plant will be tomatoes. All kinds of tomatoes and in huge quantities. There will be Roma tomatoes for salsa (along with cilantro… did I mention I don’t particularly care for salsa?), orange, yellow, white, lemon, red cherry tomatoes for the sweetness, hundreds of tomatoes for pasta sauce, chunky, heartening tomato soup for the middle of winter, whatever else I can figure out. I’ll have a veritable Tomato Farm! Wouldn’t it be a fascinating challenge to try to grow ONLY tomatoes and make everything with them for a year? Dare I try it some day? Oh I dare. And I doubt I would get tired of them, even so!

Last week there were many, many delicious-looking green tomatoes on the giant tomato plants at the school’s garden. I had hoped that meant that there would be many ready for the picking at today’s meeting! They weren’t, though the Blossom End Rot had been corrected. It’s just too cool for ripening tomatoes. I really only go there for the food I guess. But you see, the tomatoes on the plant above weren’t ready when I left, and I’m truly dying for more homegrown tomatoes.

Tomatoes and sunlight/heat. Those are two things I’m aching for a lot right now.

I’m still cranky, just as I have been the last few days. I’ve been drinking a lot of tea and hoping that will make me feel better, but it’s really not working. Add to the considerably cool weather, and I’m just cranky. I must be the only knitter that isn’t grateful for fall to come. I’m so used to September through October being the hottest months of the year, and while California is fulfilling that rule right now, I’m in Minnesota where the weather is turning much, much cooler, and I’m just not ready for it. I haven’t filled up on my 85F days yet. I feel like I’ll wither away without a little more heat before winter, and I’m really worried about how my mood will be.

My package had better come tomorrow, because I REALLY need a few hours of knitting. I think that will help set me straight again.

This must mean it’s time for more tea. ‘Til tomorrow.

And I’m either fighting a virus or just feeling icky. I’m cleaning my water kettle. In an hour and a half it will be ready to use. Thank goodness, I need some Echinacea Complete Care tea…

Look what I found! Friday Fiction. I am SO in. Can it start now? Pretty please with a cherry on top??

Isn’t it funny how, when you start thinking about something (seriously), you start running into it everywhere? I love how that works. And I think Friday Fiction should be a great asset to my “try to be a little more creative” goal for the next year.

How about a nice, delicate, pretty picture after yesterday’s:

I’m a bit cranky at the moment so pretty pictures are a good thing! Yup, still no package. Here’s hoping I get it tomorrow. Only more knitting will cure my crankiness! Well, that and people to hang out with. Yeah. I’m just bad at that.

Heyyyy! Lots of thanks to Rebee and Caroline for linking to some of my recent posts! Those were my first two pingbacks EVER. I was so excited my eyes misted over.

And, I hope you’ll all forgive me for not posting a 1000-word essay today; I have a 1500 word paper due tomorrow for a class. Yay papers! I’m so excited.

Now, the daily photo—

Remember my unforeseeable gardening adventures? Well apparently I took a picture of the plant before digging it out.

Yeah. This is what I had to deal with. I really hate these plants. There’s another one still in another place in the garden. And also, we had started cutting it back already, so it’s not QUITE as big in the picture as it was all summer.

And there you have it, folks! Triumph over adversity. ‘Til tomorrow.
