Have I done much knitting or sewing lately? I got out the sewing machine for the first time all semester over fall break. It was frustrating, I’ll tell ya. I’ll get back to it and have a skirt to show off at some point, but I need to gather a whole morning for that. I also finished Patience over fall break! Yes, at some point I’ll photograph the vest and the sweater and write FO posts. Tonight I sat down and watched TV and finished a pair of socks that I’ve gotten bored with, which are now getting washed and blocked so at least I’ll share those soon.

I could really use a new project. And, of course, time to start one.

I do have sort of a project that’s always in the back of my mind: that of the transformation of the outer me to reflect the inner me. In other words, I think about clothes, shoes, and my hair all the time. ;) Yesterday I was taking a break and chatting to my mom about shoes (as you do) and she said, “You’re supposed to try new things. If you can’t try things now, when are you supposed to?”

I took her advice; not about the shoes (yet) but about braiding, which I’ve also been thinking a lot about lately. My hair is currently pretty long for me, but for once it’s not irritating me to death. I’d like to be able to do more to it though, and I’ve been thinking about how people must have used braids to keep thick, long hair out of their way all the time. So today I tried a braid over the top of my forehead, as a new rotation to my meager hairstyles (like my meager outfit choices! both things that need expanding). Also, Mags talked about her braids once a while ago and I got jealous.

Kinda cool, yeah? I’m excited to try more braids. Keeps it out of my way when I’m hunched over an assignment… but I also get to let it down and have fun with my hair when I want to. :)

Also, Becky suggested I start taking pictures every day again, just to get back into it. So. Here’s the spooky, gloomy scene outside my living room window this morning. Which is way too white.

Tomorrow is yet another busy day, this weekend was a very busy weekend and I believe I shall go to bed early tonight. Yes, I haven’t read blogs in a few days, but I also haven’t really been on the computer in a few days. I dearly hope to have time to read blogs, write posts, and clear out my inbox (again) tomorrow or Tuesday, but I do still have to adapt to school life. I’m glad, at least, that I’m sacrificing these lonely pursuits for other things I like as well, so I’m not too mad about it, just a little disoriented.

I would, however, dearly like to knit. Got to get something new started up (I’m not happy with the Traveling Woman pattern with the sock yarn that I started and would like to try a different shawl pattern — but what?? I also am not entirely happy with the Little Minx socks I started for sitting at school). So that’s also one of my near-future goals.
