Is this really my first FO of 2009?? Ummm. I suck. Yeah. Also, please excuse the not-posting-on-Friday-like-I-said-I-would. I took the pictures on Friday, does that count? I know, I’m a bad, super-stressed, ultra-procrastinating blogger. But I’m feeling a little proud of myself, I bound off on my Witchy socks last night and they’re soaking right now. More finished socks soon! Yeah!
So. The Fishy Socks:
Aren’t they purdy?! I really love how the stripes look in the pictures. I’m not the hugest fan of stripes, but these look cute. Now all I need are super-cute Mary Janes. If I have any money left after spring break (and the dollar hasn’t killed me) I might go buy myself some really cute Mary Janes. Leather ones. Just in time for Spring!
I substituted a Back to Basics toe because I thought I’d like it better. Turns out I don’t. I still like the cast-on I use though. But other than that I mostly followed the pattern, or at least how I remembered the pattern, and in some places I definitely didn’t do it right. But I don’t care and I don’t see any imperfections. They’re perfectly imperfect.
This yarn is so siiiiilky. And splitty. The splitty part was kind of a pain as I was knitting. The silky part was heavenly. But, I was more than happy to move on to the witchy socks and its yarn. That yarn is kind of perfect for me. Can I have more please? I finished the witchy socks (soaking, remember?) and I bet I have enough yarn left for a pair of anklets. What a generous skein. I wonder what sock pattern I might pick next? Or maybe I’ll surprise everyone and work on a vest… oooh…
Anyway, finished details:
Fishy Socks (Ravelry):
Pattern: Leyburn by MintyFresh
Yarn: Zauberball by Schoppel-Wolle, which apparently you can get at The Loopy Ewe. I just got it in a store in Germany.
Needles: 2.5mm KnitPicks circular, magic looped
I have so many blog posts I want to write, I just don’t take the time to write them. Probably another reason why I’m stressed and anxious. I don’t take any of that “creativity” or “me” time. Time to start before I get an ulcer.
They’re so cute! I love them!
I have a question, since you knit way more than me. I’m looking to knit something a little more advanced than a scarf (a sweater actually) and I’ve been looking up patterns. However, many of the patterns refer to yarns that I can’t get my hands on or too expensive. Do you have any recommendations as to how to substitute yarns?
PRETTY! They kinda remind me of really cool tie dye shirts I saw at a folklife festival last year.
And they make me wish I could make more than just God’s Eye with yarn!
Lovely~~ I want rainbow socks!
Those are so cheery! I miss German (or should I say German-speaking?) yarn sometimes.
Those are gorgeous – I love the colorway!
Oh I love these socks! I wish I could knit!
Awesome socks! I should move somewhere with tons of snow so I’d be forced to learn to knit in the winter. hehe
I don’t even like knitting but socks make me want to take the knitting needles in my hands! Beautiful!
