Ishbel.

You’ve got to appreciate a pattern I cast on another for after finishing the first one. Seeing as I’m always hungry for new patterns, and all.

Since unpinning and fixing that pesky dropped stitch, this shawl has only left my shoulders for me to clean the kitchen. It feels wonderful and beautiful and I can only barely believe that something like this could be a product of my fingers.

Maybe it’s the lovely variegation of the yarn (which you can’t see well from the pictures—drat), or maybe the yarn itself blocking so beautifully (with real T-pins at every point instead of a few marking pins at various points). I don’t know what it is, but I am absolutely enchanted with this shawl. Enchanted, and hardly feel worth such a piece.

Ishbel. No modifications. Just size small. (Blocked out pretty big though, fairly bigger than my last.)

Ishbel (Ravelry):
Pattern: Ishbel again by Ysolda Teague
Yarn: Dream in Color Smooshy – in Night Watch, I think
Needles: Bamboo US 6, again.

Seeing it all laid out the past couple of days made my heart jump every time. So beautiful. I get it. Lace is magic. What shawl pattern should I knit next?

HA!!!You’ve knit lace!!! You’ve knit two of the same shawl too!!! I’m thinking of knitting Citron next (possibly inspired by the fact that Ann and Kay of Mason-Dixon knitting are BOTH knitting it for the Knitting Olympics AND because I have the yarn called for in the pattern at my parents house…which I’m visiting next weekend).

You should feel great about that beautiful piece of knitting…and how great to be able to enjoy its practical benefits as well. Congratulations on such a fabulous FO!

It’s breathtaking! I thought you were already awesome with the sock knitting you’ve been able to do, but this shawl is just awesome! It looks so intricate and complicated.

Lace has always hugely intimidated me.

  6. Your knitting is really beautiful :-)
