Did I ever mention that it’s Socktoberfest?

Because I’ve been working on two socks, actually.

And they’re both Mystery Socks, so I’m going to cut it here so those that don’t want to be spoiled won’t be.

Yes, the “Working Girl” socks are now also a Mystery Sock. And it’s moving much faster. I’m not sure if that’s because of the pattern or because I’ve spent two two hour-long movies working on these. But they’re going, and that’s good.

I’m doing the basic version for this pair. Don’t need too many cables, I suppose. And of course, since these are my purse socks, cables aren’t a good choice.

And the cabled version. I actually am not the biggest fan of the cabling on this. I think that as soon as this sock is done the second won’t be cast on until all my other pairs have to be completed for Christmas. Which is weird for me.

Both socks are a lot further in progress than these pictures make one believe, as the pictures are a day or two old, and I’ve done a bit of knitting since then. My sock love is starting to come back, I think.

One more little anecdote: I decided to pull on my First Sweater today, because I can’t find my store-bought wool/cotton blend sweater and am wary of all my store-bought acrylic/wool blend sweaters (they seem to make me overheat rather than warm up). And I looked closely at it for a few minutes, trying to decide what to do about it. The neckline just doesn’t work, and the seams and kitchener graft in the middle really frustrate me. I don’t wear it as often as I should. But I put it on today and I’m gauging whether or not wool sweaters are a good investment — whether they are TOO warm for me or whether I can wear them. If I can wear them, well, for one I won’t feel guilty about wanting to knit them. For another, I might rip this out and knit a new sweater, one that fits better.

And then I won’t have to worry about buying yarn for new sweaters, because I’ll be recycling yarn. ;) So, there’s an idea I have in mind. I’m feeling really drained lately. I hope I’m not starting to catch a cold. I’m a bit angry that I haven’t posted in a while, and a bit more angry that it’s so hard to post something. Hopefully I’ll get back on my feet in a few days. With a finished sweater, too!

When I’m struggling to post I often put up a link with just a line or two of explanation. It makes me feel productive but not drained. Your progress with those socks is impressive!

Man, I love socks. Except I always end up losing one and so I generally just go around wearing mismatched socks. So depressing.

Both socks look great! I love the colors. What are the patterns?
