All of a sudden I have a new sock.
Arrrrrgh. I cast this sock on the Friday before World Wide Knit In Public Day, the day I was going to be at a pirate festival and have lots of time for knitting on the trip to the festival. It was going to be a plain stockinette sock for the soothing qualities of stockinette, and the fact that I wanted something easy and simple to work on for whenever I was about to lose patience.
Apparently I lost patience a lot within the last week.
I think I need to re-graft the toe. I wasn’t paying enough attention the first time and managed to leave a hole. Ah well.
You know, this sock was supposed to last me a long time. This pair, I mean. But now? What if it only takes two weeks to churn out a pair of stockinette socks? (Then other things won’t get worked on very quickly, but is that such a bad thing? Maybe once I have a few sweaters ‘in stock’, I’ll be a pure sock knitter… hmm… that’ll be a few years from now. So coveting sweaters right now.) I’m going to run out of sock yarn! Seriously! Have you ever heard of such a thing?! I need to get cracking on casting on that sweater I want to work on (must wash swatches… then check the math… ugh.) so I have a good big thing to keep me from using up my entire sock stash before the summer’s up.
Guess I better go decide whether Henry is ready to be cast off or not, so I can wash it and those swatches. And make some more swatches, this time for a complicated hat. That I hope I can get gauge on. Argh.
I can’t wait until these things are cast on and going well. The planning stages drive me nuts. But I have to plan, at least for these few things. It’s just my nature.
It is suprising how fast one can churn out a pair of socks (esp. when you make the rest of the world just sit back and wait its turn)
I have heard that some people run out of sock yarn… though I’ve never seen it actually happen
The sock is really nice – and it is amazing how fast socks go!
Everything I’m working on right now has a problem with it. I am so craving simple stockinette socks! I like the striping with that yarn!
