(Either it’s too cloudy out or my camera just can’t capture lime green. This is bad news. Please excuse the crappy photos.)
I finished the knitting on the shawl. OMG! It took a little over a week — I thought it would take much, much longer. Someone should’ve warned me that even a beginner like me could finish a shawl like this really quick.
Of course, sitting in an airport for five hours while my plane got delayed over and over again probably helped in the beginning.
Here’s a better picture of the color:
When I finished this I wanted to knock on everyone’s door and say, “Look what I made!” I guess I AM that knitting dork, even if I restrained myself. (Still restraining myself…)
So. Any blocking tips anyone? I think I’m just going to put a towel on the carpet and pin it out with my 10 pins and see what happens, unless anyone has any better ideas.
I’m a little embarrassed to say I also weighed the shawl (about 60 grams) to see if I have enough of this yarn to make another:
A little over 100 grams. I think we all know what my evening project will be… (bad, bad picture! so frustrating.)
(Though I am hungrily reading through Vestvember—if anyone wants to send me a care package of enough yarn to knit a size small Honeycomb, I will be forever in your debt. I need vests! I want to knit vests! Can I join Vestvember pleeeease? What about now? Or now? How about now?)

Very very pretty shawl! It is amazing how fast some of them go!
I liked pining the shawl out on my bed last year to block it. Of course, this WAS kind of a pain in my 10′x14′ dorm room. Over the summer when I reblocked it, I pined it to the carpet (which had been well vacumed first). I like T pins, although eventually I intend to get some blocking wires.
What?! I saw that like a week ago and it was like… nothing! *shocked* Now it’s done! Zomg!
If you have enough pins, just use those. If not, I would try sewing thread. Just run it through the points of the shawl (it does have point, right?) and put in a couple pins that way.
Lots and lots of pins is the way to go, though.
Block and wear, my friend. More pins are usually better — that way you can pin out each point. But whatever you have on hand you can probably be made to work. I imagine there are lots of tutorials out there; the string/thread idea sounds good.
You need more pins! Go look for “t” pins (they look like little upper case “T”‘s)!You won’t believe what a good hard blocking will do!
I love the ideas here, I love to try new things and I am learning!
