Things

Hey blog. How’s it going? Yeah, I know I’ve been neglectful lately. Truth is, I just don’t know how to blog anymore, or even how to read blogs anymore. I don’t really care about 85% of blogs these days. I also don’t care about knitting. Or Veronica Mars, the show I’ve been watching on DVD (though I’m still happy to receive Star Trek: Voyager in the mail).

What have I been doing in the week since I’ve come home? A few appointments and a lot of gorging myself on junk food and shopping. I feel like someone who has been suppressing her desires for years and suddenly finds herself in a land where junk food exists and grandparents want to buy me things, so why not take advantage of it to the fullest? It’s unsettling, actually, how easily I’ve taken to buying things. The junk food I’m not worried about. I’m pretty sure it’s just a phase. But the shopping worries me. I’m too used to not liking shopping, and enjoying buying new things is really weighing on my conscience.

Alas, that’s not what I’m here to talk about. Instead I decided I’d share the few clothes I bought in the past few days, a lá Amanda. After all, I got some pretty spectacular deals.

I have been on a serious search for a white blouse for a while now. You see, the problem with getting into knitting, and into sweaters especially, is that you need good shirts to wear under the sweaters. Blouses such as these look perfect on others’ blogs, why wouldn’t they work for me too? I was also thinking last year about how different the standards for clothing are for professors vs. for students, and how I should hold my own dress code to a higher standard because the professors have to. At which point I realized I don’t have a nice white blouse that fits, but that those are fairly professional. So I’ve been ‘looking’ for one since. I’m especially glad that it’s three-quarter sleeved, as my favorite sweater (the Nantucket Jacket) is also three-quarter sleeved. More shirts to wear it with! This was originally $68, at Ross for $14.99.

Now THIS was the good deal. If you have a JC Penney near you? I’d suggest stopping by sometime soon and perusing their $4.99 clearance rack. Oh yeah. I got this blouse (also three-quarter sleeved! yay!) plus a pair of black pants for about $10. Original prices? $30 and $36. I walked by my mom and said, “I don’t mind asking you for BOTH of these, as at $4.99 each they won’t really break the bank.” I really went in for the black pants and the shirt was extra. Because I’m going to be going to the theater in Vienna, I realized I needed some black pants to wear to be a little dressier. (You will RARELY find me in a dress or skirt, so black pants it is.)

Super exciting awesome deals anyone? Yessiree. Next time I post, maybe I’ll have a finished pair of socks. (Will someone find my knitting mojo? It’s lost and I need to knit uninteresting things. Kind of not happy about it at all. I want to knit fun things but I don’t have the time… So stressed and anxious. Ugh.)

I recently got a white blouse, too! I think it was about $15, normally $30. I really like the button up (down?) shirts.

I like that green one, though.

Well, what do you think of Veronica Mars? I got addicted to it in it’s first season, and loved it while it ran (although it tends to get rather soapy at times).
Knittin mojo…well, I’ve been knitting, but I’m thinking I should take a break, although I don’t know if I can even DO that. It’s become such a habit.
I think that doing a little shopping once in awhile is okay…I like the white blouse. And a white blouse and black pants are pretty basic, and you’ll be able to wear them a lot.

You really can’t go wrong with a standard white blouse! :) It goes with everything, such a timeless classic.
