Hello world!

I’ve finally (re-)started the blog.

This has taken me forever in the interest of opening it up “perfect”. But I realized the other night: Things don’t have to be perfect to get done. It’s a lesson I have to remind myself of over and over and over. And because of the way I’ve been making up blog entries in my head, I realized that it is time. I need this. For my sanity. And, June 14 has a nice ring to it as a blogoversary date. ;)

Hello world, my name is Stephanie. I like to knit. I like to read about knitting. And I like to write. So this will be my knitting blog, so I can get to know the other knitters of the knitblogging community as well.

The best way to open a blog? With a little “house”-warming, or getting to know you party! I’ve been able to give and I’ve been able to receive—and I want to do a little more giving. How’s this? Leave a comment to this post before the end of a week (that’s 21 June) Wednesday, 25 June 2008 introducing yourself so I have some links to add to my blogroll and at the end of two weeks I’ll select a random commenter to win something. Because I don’t have a yarn stash (no income to buy yarn with, so I justify purchases on a project-by-project basis), the prize will be a $25 gift certificate to The Loopy Ewe, Dream Weaver Yarns, or Amazon.com—winner’s choice!

It’s kind of scary, putting yourself out there. But here I am. Trying to do just that. Well, finger’s crossed that it all goes all right…

Next time, on Sunbeam Soapbox: Me, a winner? A fabulous prize all the way from Germany! Knitting? What knitting? Yeah, I guess I have to take pictures of the knitting-in-progress after that…

Welcome back to the blogosphere, Stephanie!

I’m Emily from “Not Another Knitblog!”, and totally sympathize with you — writing posts, putting yourself ‘out there’ can be a bit intimidating, but there’s such a wonderful knitting/spinning/crafting/*living* community here, so it’s worth it!

    Hey, LadyO from http://ladyochron.wordpress.com/
It can be scary, will any one read, will anyone care, will anyone like me – but knitters are awesome and so supportive.

(BTW- I was reading your post about the pirate shirts, I am so glad I’m not the only one who calls them princess seams, everyone’s been giving me funny looks over that, and saying-don’t you mean *french*seams)

Yaaay for knitting blog! Now I can at least see pics of the pretty socks and whatnot that I so desperately pine for but don’t have the dexterity to create nor the funds to purchase! =D

    …*sob*
